Photocopier Jobs

Confessions of a Serial Interviewer by Steven Ra Ga

2010 Early – After I left X-Rox I started looking for other photocopier jobs and landed an interview with one of the competitor companies.

When I went in I can recall sitting in a white room with two men. If I didn’t know any better I could have been in a secret government black site.

When we started chatting we ultimately got to a question I still recall to this day.

You see back in those days I had trouble with commission sales because I was honest, I wasn’t the bitter hardened warrior I am today.

The question was asked by one of the interviewers. “Where do you stand in your company. Are you the top rep?” To me in reality I wasn’t even in the top ten, but I couldn’t say that so I said “well I am in the top 3 and I am number 3!” I said with a smirk.

To any normal person that would have meant this guy has got room to grow. But to an A type you gotta be #1 all the time this news is the worst of its kind.

The interviewer immediately switch from a pleasant human to a rabbis dog, frothing at the mouth, yelling at me about how could I be #3 and he only hired #1s. I could recall the other interviewer looking at his partner in shock.

In hind sight this guy showed his true Colours and working for a guy like that would have been a disaster.

I recall leaving the interview in shock but I never forgot it. Now when asked how good am I at something on a scale of one to ten I just say 11, one because it’s funny and two because it shows confidence.

The interviewer from that photocopier jobs was really just looking for confident people to lie to him. He didn’t want the truth.
