Confessions of a Serial Interviewer by Steven Ra Ga

After I left the non stable film industry I tried looking for work elsewhere. What I found was once you go into the film industry for work it’s very hard to come out. The real world isn’t as accepting and your skills don’t really transfer, unless you are an actor, because you can easily go into sales or become a news anchor.

For me I found a labour job delivering and making items for a rental company that supplies the film industry with items such as pylons, signs and plywood for hwys (making a wood path to protect the grass)

While working there I happened to meet and befriend a fellow who taught me a lot about his life and relationship to the polyamorous community. it’s not for me but I found it interesting to learn about.

Polyamory is a form of ethical non-monogamy that involves committed relationships between two or more people — typically romantic relationships.

Essentially, being in a polyamorous relationship means that you and your partner have the option of dating other people.

Days were hard, it’s labour, grunt work mostly, lifting pylons, moving plywood in the rain, cleaning tents, etc.

This one time I had to paint an object, so I walked outside through a garage door and started to paint it in the spray booth, I recall it was a hot day and I was tired.

After painting I decided to walk a different way into the building, there was a small door to the left, this door was different as it had a raised bottom you had to step over, with regular speed I walked through except I miscalculated the height for my head and knocked myself unconscious.

From the inside the guys were working and they hear a yell then see a glove fly across the room randomly.

I hit my head so hard my gloves flew off my hand.

On the ground, I was out cold for a matter of moments, when the guys came by to check on me, I mentioned what happened. They seemed confused until I stood next to the door way and realized the height of the door came up to my shoulders. I am 6’4” this door must be 5’10” or so.

I am certain I was concussed but didn’t know anything about that at the time. After that I took things a bit more slow.

Then one day I came into work and saw a locker that had sharpie on it, someone had wrote a quote that read “don’t take life too seriously, no one gets out alive.” Author unknown.

After that I quit and went looking for a better form of employment.
