Confessions of a Serial Interviewer by Steven Ra Ga
Scientology, I once cold called a small church of Scientology without knowing what it was. I found the people to be very rude and mean, I just wanted to sell them a photocopier at the time. I bring this up cause this church is known to harass people to join similar to the Mormons and the Jehovah’s. But what about a different kind of cult, Pyramid Schemes.
Which naming names, I had the unfortunate opportunity to apply to one of these known companies.
When I went into the office for an interview the person conducting the interview looked a bit like Bob Lazar and Jeffery Damer had a baby.
Creepy….
The interview went over okay but in the end he said some things that got the hairs on my neck to stand up, I could only think to myself “pyramid scheme” so I called him out on it. Not the best tactic but I could help myself.
The man, started to get angry but stayed calm, and he debated me for a while saying how it wasn’t one and that he really thought I should join, when I declined the offer, it was like a used car salesman not liking the word no. Just kept pushing and pushing until finally I said “okay, sounds great, how about I start tomorrow, I am just going to go to my car and grab my wallet.” I thought to myself maybe they needed my I.D. Lucky for me this was my escape plan. “See yah suckers! Hahaha” I was gone.
Recently I made the same mistake this time I applied a marketing company who hasn’t stopped calling, well that’s not entirely true, the eventually stopped calling after 2 months of me telling them I didn’t want to work for them.
Lesson is just don’t apply to those guys and do more research.
